It was set to be a tough test for Curzon Ashton Military Veterans as they faced Buckley Hall Prison Staff in an 11 a-side friendly match.

The match got off to a good start with Jamie Longworth completing his hat-trick for Curzon within the first 22 minutes, Buckley Hall then pulled a goal back after half an hour.

Lance McDonough got on the scoresheet as did Ashley Farrington as he got on the end of one of Geoffery Hargreaves' crosses and converted.

Just before half-time Jamie Longworth got his fourth of the game as he took a shot from 20 yards out and the ball flew in to the top right of the net.

Curzon Ashton Military Veterans went in 6-1 up at the break.

After the break Dave Watkins got on the end of a corner to make it 7-1.

Melvin helped run the midfield making a number of runs both on and off the ball, he managed to get past the keeper and place it in to the goal to make it eight.

Anthony Sandiford who joind the Nash two months ago scored his first goal for the club with a dipping cross.

Buckley Hall then went up the other end and managed to pull one back to make it 9-2.

Curzon then coverted their 10th as Ashley Farrington scored his second of the game and brought his goal tally to five goals in two games.

Chris Pier who was playing on his birthday was moved from his natural position of centre-back to play up front. He managed to get himself a hat-trick during the last 15 minutes of the game, with the best of the three coming from a delicate chip over the keeper.

During the closing stages of the game, Dean Simcock made a number of runs trying to beat the offside trap, eventually a ball from Melvin made its way through and he slotted the ball in the back of the net, followed by the full-time whistle.

Final score: 14-2

A special mention goes to our stand in keeper Dave Newton, with our regualar keeper out due to injury, our centre-back Dave stepped up and managed to grab himself MOTM.

Another mention goes to Buckley Hall Prison, we hope once you have your players back from injury we can host you again!
